Testimony
Next Saturday, October 7, I’ll turn 40 years old. The blessing of hitting the landmark age will forever be enhanced by the constant presence of my Angie Davenport. The year before I was born, she had an emergency ostomy that saved her life. In the years since, she has traveled the country assisting and encouraging others who live under the same conditions.
It’s ironic that October 7 is also Ostomy Awareness Day. My aunt’s group, Team Blessed With A Bag, will be honoring the day with a “Run For Resilience” at Perkins Park to help continue their mission to spread awareness on this life-saving procedure. There will also be raffles for gift cards, baskets, and a 50/50. If anyone would like to contribute, donations can be made by scanning the bar code on the flyer. Any generosity would be greatly appreciated!
If it were not for Aunt Angie’s emergency ostomy in 1982, I promise you that my soon-to-be 40 years on this earth would have gone much different. I’m so proud to know that the same level of love and support that she’s always given me throughout my life has and will continue to be reciprocated to those that have traveled the same journey that she has.
